The author analyses the part played by the Army during the year of 1968, in Brazil, calling the attention to the political movements that determined that year, on account of the long period of the military governments established after 1964. In this context, it is emphasized the syndical movements, the strikes of the metallurgists in the state of Minas Gerais and the workers of the main industries of that region, the contestation to the military regimen by the students, and the unanimity of the Army, both the ‘hard wing’ and the ‘moderate wing’ in repressing all those opposition movements.
