Os 'letrados' da sociedade colonial: as academias e a cultura do Iluminismo no final do século XVIII

Resumo

The  article discusses in what measure the 'literati' of colonial society in the academies  which were founded during 18th century shared the  climate of opinion which  characterized the european intellectual movement of the period and developed the same style, that is, specific forms of sociability which sought civility and politeness.In the search for a happier and more harmonious society, the principles with which these men of letters intended to promote the progress of the Enlightenment will be analyzed through part of the documentation they produced.
