This article discusses the presence of sport in the fonds of the Comissão Executiva Central do Sesquicentenário da Independência do Brasil. The debate is developed in light of the author’s research experience, working with this particular fonds since 2013 in order to carry out a study on the use of sports as propaganda by the military regime that ruled the country.
