This article analyzes the contributions of the set of documents from the private collection of Francisco Amaral as a documentary heritage that makes it possible to unveil public policies and the action of an intellectual in the territory of Baixada Fluminense and in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Historical reconstruction was sought to relate the role of the parliamentarian and his dialogues with social movements, the struggles against the dictatorship and for the democratization of society.
